NMMU School of Management Sciences is pleased and privileged to host guest lecturer Professor Pramodita Sharma from The University of Vermont.

Professor Sharma will be presenting two lectures at the NMMU namely:

The Art and Craft of Publishing in International A-listed Journals; and

Entrepreneurial Family Firms: Growing the Family Business across generations

Professor Sharma has been involved in family business from a young age when she started helping with accounting at her father’s automotive dealerships. She eventually left the family business to pursue a career in education and research.

She has authored and co-authored numerous books and articles on family business studies. Her book, Entrepreneurial Family Firms (2010, Prentice Hall), is the most widely used textbook at tertiary institutions. It has also been translated into Mandarin and Greek.

Professor Sharma is involved with a number of professional associations and is the co-founder of the Family Enterprise Research Conference. She maintains interaction with family business leaders around the world which helps with her research. Professor Sharma is the Editor-in-Chief of the Family Business Review (FBR): the only SSCI listed Top 20 Business Journal.

Experiences and close interactions with her own family’s business help Professor Sharma determine what makes family businesses succeed or fail and she is here at the NMMU School of Management Sciences to share some of her vast knowledge on the topic. It is an honour and privilege to welcome such a distinguished Professor to our school.
